At any rate, life the past few months has been insane. It was my last semester as an undergrad in college, and following tradition at my college the last semester or two depending on which program you're studying is the one in which you take on the biggest project of your college career. You're grouped according to interests and assigned clients. You then basically become free labor working to find solutions and make new designs according to your clients' specifications for the rest of the semester while juggling your actual course requirements alongside those of your clients. The issues arise when you've given basically 3 months to do what would potentially take upwards of a year, with no set hours per say, and with clients who really don't care whether you meet the requirements you need to get a good grade and just want you to keep them happy. It's not that I didn't enjoy the process, there's little more rewarding than seeing something you've sunken hundreds of hours into come to life and function. I just had no life outside of that project to speak of, and found myself rapidly loosing sleep with every late night I had to spend composing papers and putting together presentations or early morning where I had to be up at the crack of dawn to throw parafoils off of roofs or help launch them at local parks.
That coupled with trying to get everything in line in order to graduate was a trial, doubly so when accompanied by having to say farewell to a lot of close friends. I basically had a constant funnel of soft drinks and coffee pouring into my system by the end of the year. But, now you know why I've been so inactive for so long. And coming back to over 10,000 items in your inbox is a bit insane.
At any rate, I am still juggling a lot of things. I'm not going to be able to go back and thank and respond to everyone whose faved or watched me since my absence, it's just too much to go through in my somewhat limited time. I've got to get transitioned into a job, which will also involve moving and sorting through all the crap I've accumulated over the course of 4.5 years. In the meantime being home again in the intermittent period seems to bring its own can of worms. I'm hoping to try to get some new art or writing at least up in the somewhat near future though. I have so many nearly to half finished things I badly want to complete. Being confined to designing logos for groups on campus and putting together posters just doesn't cut it sometimes.
Random things that I've picked up in the meantime and have been enjoying: A Song of Ice and Fire series (just started the 3rd book and have been enjoying them so far), the TV show Community, and Skyrim
In other news, I highly recommend that Americans in particular keep an eye on the policies congress and the senate are looking to pass. It's not a pleasant time right now in terms of politicians caring for human rights or freedom of speech, which means people need to be all the more aware. If you're out of the loop and need a place to start, I recommend looking up the NDAA, which recently passed with some frightening legislation attached due to the fact that it included the defense budget for the coming year, SOPA, which could potentially end the internet as we know it, and PIPA, SOPA's more quiet cousin.
